Points, Points Everywhere!

Like many cards distributed through the US Bank, the Ace is a relative unknown, but gives better rewards than many other cards of its calibre. This card gives you points which you can redeem for discounts at Ace participating stores which are hardware stores. We would suggest tying this to your Ace membership so that you can take advantage of things like bonus start up points, coupons, sales, and instant savings. Put the Ace Rewards card with the Ace Rewards Visa Card and it becomes much easier to start heading for those larger discounts.

The Ace Rewards Visa gives you rewards in this fashion:

  • Up to 10% in rewards points in categories which change quarterly
  • Up to 5% in reward points on Ace purchases
  • 2% on gas and groceries
  • 1% everywhere else
  •

With an Ace Membership card, you also get ten points/$1.00 spent and 1,000 bonus points for signing up.

You can then redeem your points to the tune of 2,500 points/$5.00. This isn’t the greatest exchange rate, but if you use your Ace Rewards Visa regularly (or at least whenever you go into the hardware store), you can store up points fairly swiftly.

Now, these cash back (effectively since the points go towards discounts in-store) are better than the more general cash back cards, but limited in that you use them in Ace stores and their partners. This means that if you do not shop with Ace, this card will be of little value to you. If you do shop Ace (or you plan to), then this card is well worth looking into as a way to save money.

You also get a few other extra perks. These include travel accident insurance, auto rental collision damage waiver, Zero fraud liability and free spending reports.

    Acing the Fees?

Like any other credit card, the Ace Rewards has its fees for use. This card has no annual fee and an APR which varies between moderate to relatively high, depending on your credit worthiness. This is actually a bit problematic as you need to already have an excellent credit rating to be able to get this card and the APR for this card is a little high when compared to others. There is no introducing APR on purchases or balance transfers. The APR for cash advances is also pretty high (though not as high as many other cards), so try to avoid doing that whenever possible.

The Ace Rewards Visa card isn’t the most affordable card around, but as long as you keep on top of it, you should be able to enjoy your discounts and rewards without feeling too strained.

The Ace Rewards Visa card is something of a cross between a customer loyalty card and a points rewards card. You get many more points for purchasing things than many other points cards, but you can only use these points to redeem for in-store discounts at Ace stores. It’s very important to ensure that you will actually use this card regularly before you apply otherwise it won’t be nearly as beneficial to you. If this card looks like something that will work well for you, apply today and enjoy the Ace Rewards Visa card!
