LifeMiles Visa Signature Card Review

The US Bank has rolled out plenty of loyalty credit cards tied to smaller airlines and the LifeMiles Visa Signature Card is no different.

In this case, the loyalty rewards program comes courtesy of TACA (Transportes Aereos del Continente Americano) and Avianca, both airlines based in North and South America, but able to do international flights as well.

Much like AeroMexico, this card offers both the benefits of flying regularly with the partner airlines and the benefits of being a Visa Signature Card, so why should you consider this card?

The Benefits of the LifeMiles Visa Signature Card

The LifeMiles credit card is a points rewards credit card which gives you LifeMiles for the money you spend on the card. These LifeMiles can be used to pay for airline tickets through Avianca and/or TACA Airlines. Earning LifeMiles isn’t hard; it’s about on par with other travel rewards cards that US Bank offers. You can earn these miles through the following:

  • 1 LifeMile/$1.00 spent
  • 2 LifeMiles/$1.00 spent on Avianca/TACA tickets
  • 20,000 bonus LifeMiles after using your card for the first time
  • 6,000 bonus miles upon the annual renewal of your card
  •

It’s a little harder to earn miles with this card than it is with a few other cards; on the other hand, you can still store up quite a few points and certainly enough to get some free flights. Unlike many other cards like this one, the LifeMiles gives you an extra bit: you also get a 50% discount on your excess baggage when you purchase tickets through TACA if you redeem points for excess baggage claims.

As a Visa Signature card, you also get the following benefits:

  • No preset spending limit
  • Concierge services
  • Exclusive access to entertainment and sports tickets
  • Special coupons and services for shopping and travel
  • Free Experian credit score
  •

You also get useful things like travel accident, emergency insurance, travel assistance, extended warranties and purchase protections so that shopping is no longer a cause for concern.

What Are the Fees for Using the LifeMiles Visa Signature Card?

This card does have an annual fee of $75.00 which is waived in the first year of card ownership. Keep in mind that you won’t get your bonus points until this annual fee is paid so make sure you can cover it. It has no introductory rate on purchase or balance transfers; you start right off with an APR that goes from average to slightly high depending on your credit worthiness.

Keep in mind that in order to be eligible for this card, you will need to have an excellent credit rating and of course, be able to regularly fly with one of the partner airlines in order to make the most of the card.

If you fly with TACA and/or Avianca, then this loyalty/rewards credit card in one is a good fit.

It’s nice to be able to get free tickets every so often, earn points on everything you buy, get double points when you fly and get rewarded for sticking with the card for longer than a year, plus of course be a Visa Signature member. Bear in mind the annual fee and you should be able to get quite a bit out of this credit card.

If this sounds good to you, apply for the LifeMiles Visa Signature card today and enjoy.
