Benefits of the U.S. Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa Signature Card

The FlexPerks card uses a points rewards system which lets you save up and use points for a variety of rewards. This card is known for actually giving you a great sign-up bonus to start with: 17,500 points if you spend $2500 in the first five months of owning your card. Furthermore, you can get an additional 3,500 points/year you spend $24000. These points can actually be used against the annual fee of the credit card or for whatever rewards you’d prefer. Here’s how you can earn your points.

  • 17,500 bonus FlexPoints when you spend $2500 in the first five months
  • 1 FlexPoint/$1.00 spent
  • 2 FlexPoints/$1.00 spent on the categories where you spend the most money (gas, food or airlines) and cell phone expenses
  • 3500 bonus points/card member year
  •

These points can then be redeemed for a variety of things including air fare (starting at 20,000 points for $400.00 of ticket value), hotel, car rental and cruise rewards, merchandise, gift cards and cash back. Basically whatever you think you could want from your credit card, this one can give you!

On top of the many reward points you can gather, this credit card also has the benefit of being a Visa Signature card. This means that you get a vast swath of perks associated with this level of membership including concierge services, insurances, emergency support, and other things to help you make the most of your card and save a great deal of money in cases where things are going wrong. You can also get access to OpenTable online reservations, VIP tickets, unique experiences and perks in luxury hotels. Visa Signature cards are accepted all over the world and are a great way to get a little more out of your finances.

Finally, you get things like a $25.00 ‘allowance’ whenever you buy a plane ticket with your points-this money can be used for things like baggage or food charged on your card. You also get rental car deals, a free Hideaways Life Newsletter membership and when you make charitable donations on your card, you earn triple FlexPoints.

Remember to take advantage of all of these perks if you really want to ensure that the annual fee you pay on this card is worthwhile for you!

What Fees Am I Going to Have to Pay for the FlexPerks Travel Rewards Membership Benefits?

This card does have an annual fee, but it’s considered to be rather low for what you’re getting at $49.00 a year.

The annual fee is waived in the first year and furthermore, you can use your points to pay it if you’d prefer.

It’d be nice if it weren’t there at all, but at least it’s not very big. The other big fee to watch for is the foreign currency transaction fee; you’re looking at 2% per purchase or ATM transaction for American currency and 3% for foreign currency.

There is an introductory APR of 0% for both balance transfer & new purchases for 12 months however after the 0% intro APR period expires there’s a 10% spread of possible APRs depending on your credit worthiness. Cash advances are more expensive in terms of APR, so make sure you minimize these. The fee is also a little high so again, avoid doing it if you can. Other fees are fairly standard.

Having said that, just as is the case with any credit card offer out there today, at some point the card company is going to charge you interest for carrying a balance so use your card wisely and make sure you keep your credit card balance owing in check to a level you can afford, ideally you want to pay off your balance in full each month.

The US Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa Signature is a good rewards credit card for people who want more flexibility from their points and a bunch of perks that can be used to be make entertainment and travel more fun.

The only thing to really watch for is the annual fee and the APR on cash advances; otherwise, this card functions very well in anyone’s wallet and can be a great boon for travellers. If this sounds good to you, apply for the US Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa Signature credit card today and enjoy!
