US Bank Visa Platinum Card Review of Benefits

If there is one thing (ha!) that drives many consumers nuts about all of the different credit card options out there, it’s trying to figure out where they all stand and which ones are best to get under different circumstances.

Do you want rewards, do you want lower interest? Do you understand the fees and interest and when they apply? Do you read the fine print?

All of these things and more are what makes a well informed consumer; unfortunately, many people just don’t have time for that! If this sounds like you, then a simplified card with no frills and no gimmicks, everything laid out on the table, is probably what you’re looking for. This is where the U.S. Bank Visa Platinum card comes in. Although called a platinum card, this is more like a no-frills card where what you see is really what you get. Is this the card for you?

No Frills, No Gimmicks and Nothing Else in Particular…

First off, if you’re looking for a rewards card, this one isn’t it. This card mainly focuses on helping you pay off debt faster and stay out of debt with greater ease. To this end, this card offers a 0% introductory APR for twelve months on purchases and balance transfers. This allows you to do things like transfer high interest debt to pay it off faster or make a big ticket purchase and then pay it off interest free.

Once the introductory period wears off, you are looking at a highly variable APR between very low to very high depending on your creditworthiness. The range means that if you have a solid credit rating, you can enjoy a very low APR which is always good for managing your finances. This card also has no annual fee, but it does have a balance transfer fee of 3%, so keep that in mind when shuffling your money around.

There are one or two other perks. This card has a $0 fraud liability attached to it and you can access your Experian credit score for free. This helps you stay in the loop via your credit report which can help you leverage the best possible deals for loans. You also get auto rental insurance if you charge your rental to your card and don’t get the company’s collision damage waiver.

This card may not be the most interesting card around, especially considering its rather long and fancy name, but it is a solid card to use for daily life, to save money on old debt or to buy a big ticket item. However, if you have an excellent credit rating and little debt, you may want to opt for a rewards card to give yourself the best bang for your buck. If you only have ok credit and you want to get on top of your debt, then this will be an excellent credit card to use. You can apply for the U.S. Bank Visa Platinum Card today and enjoy!
